Traditionally, jersey was primarily made with wool but is now commonly made with wool, cotton, and polyester. Jersey is generally knit with a plain stitch on a single set of needles, with all the loops facing the same direction.

Your t-shirts are made out of it, cotton candy is named after it, and it’s the most common material used to make bed sheets. It’s breathable, forgiving when removing stains (adios blood stains), and stays cool. Cotton sheets also soften up with time and washes while maintaining their durability.

In the 18^th century, although usually made from wood, bedframes also started to be constructed using metal. Mattresses were stuffed with cotton and maids and personal valets no longer slept on trundles on the floor. The bed was not used for receiving visitors, but rather as a private space. In the 19^th century, the four-poster beds were less lavish, and metal bedsprings were invented.
