There are many options to consider when choosing the perfect bath towel.  From waffle towels to spa towels, striped towels to ribbed towels, the choices are dizzying.  Each type of bath towel has its own unique features and benefits, so it's important to understand the differences between them.

Silk production dates back far in human history and has long been regarded as a luxury fabric. It is a strong, durable material that is also lusciously soft and shiny. Silk is also very breathable, because it is a natural material, and generally maintains a cool temperature. This makes it a popular choice for hot sleepers. Additionally, silk can be beneficial for hair and skin, as it won’t absorb moisture or cause hair breakage like other materials, since it is so smooth.

The most common constructions are muslin, percale, sateen, flannel, and knitted jersey.^[4] In a plain weave the warp and weft cross each other one at a time. Sateen has multiple (usually 3–4) over threads and one under.^[5]

A duvet cover encases and protects a duvet. Like an envelope, it has an opening where the comforter or duvet is inserted. Once placed inside, the opening is closed with buttons or occasionally a zipper. Duvet covers are generally very decorative and are available in a wide selection of colors and styles. The duvet cover takes the place of a top sheet in Europe, and some people in the U.S. also use it this way.
